Tapak Tuan is one of the most famous natural tourist destinations in South Aceh District. This tourist spot is located in Gampong Pasar, Tapak Tuan District, South Aceh. Tapak Tuan is famous for its giant footprints on the beach.

The tourists usually come to capture the moment around these giant footprints. The giant footprints are 2.5 meters wide and 6 meters long. These footprints are located on the beach and on the slopes of the mountains.

To be able to reach these giant footprints, tourists must walk through the rocks. This Tapak Tuan tour has undergone changes, namely the surface has been coated with cement. However, the original shape of the footprint has not changed.

Around this giant footprint tourist spot also provides simple seats made of wood, the direction is directly facing the sea, so that tourists can enjoy the beauty of the sea when sitting there.

The story of Tapak Tuan Tourism Object

Tapak Tuan comes from the two syllables 'Tapak' and ' Tuan'. The naming is inseparable from the legend of Tuan Tapa and the presence of giant footprints there. This legend is a folklore that has been passed down from generation to generation and is believed to this day. The mystery of the giant soles is said to originate from the legend of a powerful ascetic with a giant body named Sheikh Tuan Tapa.

He spent all his time worshiping his God, always doing dhikr, and constantly remembering the name of the Creator. Even in an unconscious state, his heart will always be controlled by his love for his God. Every day he spends meditating in a cave in South Aceh. For his perseverance and sincerity in spelling and always glorifying the name of his Lord. He is often given inspiration about various occult things that are not widely known by ordinary people.

Once when he was meditating, Sheikh Tuan Tapa was disturbed by the battle of a king from the Asralanoka Kingdom from the Indian Ocean. The king wanted to take his son from two dragons. Sheikh Tuan Tapa then came out of the cave to help the king who was in trouble in the middle of the ocean.

It is said that his footprints when he jumped remained on this site. After the fierce battle, two dragons died at the hands of Sheikh Tuan Tapa who was armed with a wooden stick. Then the king could return to get his son.

Even though the Princess had returned to the arms of the king and empress, the two of them did not return to the kingdom and chose to stay in Aceh. The royal family then settled near the cave of Sheikh Tuan Tapa, which later became the forerunner of the Tapak Tuan settlement. Shortly after the incident, Syech Tuan Tapa disappeared at a location.

Not far from the giant's footprint, there is also a rock in the middle of the sea which is believed to be Tuan Tapa's skullcap which has now turned into a rock. The skullcap was detached when the battle ensued. The stick that had turned into stone was there.

Then, 5 km from the location of the giant footprint, there is a heart-shaped rock in Batu Itam Village and dragon scales in Batu Merah Village. According to the story, the body remains of a male dragon who lost a fight. There is also a sail-shaped reef on Batu Berlayar Beach, Damar Tutong Village, Samadua District, South Aceh, which is located about 20 km from the giant's footprint.

It is said that the rock is the remains of the king and empress's ship of the Asralanoka Kingdom which was destroyed during the battle. The legend of Tapak Tuan is even more complete when a giant tomb is found. The tomb is two meters wide and 15 meters long at the Tuo Mosque, Padang Village, Tapak Tuan.

While Tuan Tapa's grave is believed by local people to be in Kampung Padang, Tapaktuan District, South Aceh. It is about 10 km from Tuan Tapa's trail which is located on the seafront of Mount Lampu.

Tuan Tapa's grave is behind a mosque that stands firmly as the Old Mosque which is opposite a Tapak Tuan 1 Aliyah State Madrasah.

Tuan Tapa's grave is very large, 25 meters long and 8 meters wide. Tapak tourism itself also has a myth, a rule that must be obeyed by tourists when visiting these giant footprints. The rules are simple, namely not being overly excited, arrogant, saying dirty words, and doing indecent acts. If you break it, be prepared to receive waves that will drag and sink.
