Bukit Lawang is one of the most popular tourist attractions in North Sumatra. This natural tourist spot is located right under the foot of Mount Leuser. Approximately Bukit Lawang tourism is at an altitude of between 100-700 meters above sea level so it has cool and cool weather.

Another attraction of Bukit Lawang is the Rafflesia Arnoldi flower which is a rare plant in the world.
This plant has a characteristic flower which is very large, up to three meters with a reddish color and yellowish spots on the petals. Another characteristic possessed by this flower is its unpleasant aroma because it smells like a carcass.

Challenging River Tubing

When traveling to this natural attraction, you can also do river tubing which is an interesting attraction for tourists. River tubing is a water tour similar to rafting. But what is used as a boat are tires that are linked to each other. River tubing is usually done in groups so if you want to do it, you can invite friends. If you want to do river tubing, you have to spend around IDR 50,000-IDR 75,000 per person.

There's a Bat Cave

Apart from river tubing, another attraction of Bukit Lawang is the existence of a bat cave so you can do caving tours. Caving tourism is a tour down the cave. In Bukit Lawang there is a Bat Cave which is home to thousands of bats. Here you can do a caving tour accompanied by a tour guide.

Charming Waterfall

Another attraction that can be enjoyed by tourists when visiting Bukit Lawang is the existence of a charming waterfall called the Ariko waterfall. The size of the waterfall is not big and high so the current is not swift. This allows you to safely bathe under the waterfall. Ariko waterfall has a height of about 3 meters with a width of about 2 meters.

Bukit Lawang Tourism is located in Bohorok District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. The distance is about 68 km to the northwest if from Binjai City or about 80 km to the northwest of Medan city with a long journey time of up to 2-2.5 hours.

If using public transportation, you can depart from the Pinang Baris bus terminal. From there there is a bus that has a route to Bukit Lawang. you can simply ask the bus that goes to the Gunung Leuser National Park or the Gotong Royong bus terminal. Usually the buses that go to Bukit Lawang are only available at 09.00-17.00. Later you come from the Gotong Royong bus terminal, you only need to take a motorcycle taxi or bump into it by spending around IDR 5,000-IDR 10,000.

Meanwhile, if you take a private vehicle, take the route with the starting point from Binjai City, which will pass through the Jalan Gatot Subroto intersection. Then pass Jalan Binjai-Kuala. From there you only need to follow the direction of the road that leads to Gunung Leuser National Park.

Opening Hours and Entrance Ticket Prices

You can visit this natural tourist spot at any time because the opening hours are 24 hours from Monday to Sunday. Even though the opening hours are anytime, the best time to come here is during the dry season. Avoid coming during the rainy season because the road leading to Bukit Lawang is quite slippery to pass.

As for the entry ticket, you only need to spend around IDR 5,000, both for children and adults. But for foreign tourists, the funds spent are much more expensive because it can reach IDR 150,000 per person. Meanwhile, the parking fee is rather expensive because you have to spend IDR 10,000 for parking fees for two-wheeled vehicles and IDR 20,000 for parking fees for four-wheeled vehicles.
